Hello all!
It's been sometime since my last post but I'm always reading your post...

The Flaming Lips have a 4 CD album called Zaireeka in which all 4 CDs have the same songs but with different istruments and sounds on each CD. You are supposed to use 4 CD players in order to be able to listen what they really had in mind and there are synchronizing cues at the beginning of each disc.
Is there a software mixer out there where I could try to mix the 4 CDs into a simple stereo mix? I don't have 4 CD players and even if I did I'm not an octopus to be able to start each CD player on time!

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I split your message off to a new topic.

Not sure if audacity could do it but Kristal seems ok for the job.

I'd think it would be impossible to sync four CD players and would think that would be part of the charm of the project ... Laughing

Hello!

The idea would be to record 1 cd at a time using the synchronization cues accordingly... and to use the dvd/cd/cdrom installed in my pc... maybe it's not possible because I should be able to listen to what I have already recorded in order to listen to the sync cues...

Thanks!

When you want to mix 'm just rip the CDs (windows media player will do it for you) load them into kristal as separate tracks and mix the tracks down there to one track after lining 'm up and save the result ... I don't see a problem

I've been trying out the Maize Studio. http://www.maizesoft.cn/ms/ It looks pretty snazzy. I suggest you look at it. You can have 4 independent file players and run them into a mixer. This program looks quite useful. It works with Rewire and the Reaper ASIO drivers too - but that's not the point.

Anyway, you can sync the file players with midi, or use your keyboard to start them.
