Does a Nord lead 2 have better sound quality than a 2x?

I have a 2x, and have had it for like 6 months or so.
Im starting to feel a little buyer's remorse, cause I just am not digging the sound.

I am a terrible synth programmer, and I know you shouldnt judge a synth by its pre-sets. The 2x's presets are miserable sounding in the high octaves, which dissapoints me.

Do they have the same sound quality? Or did upgrading the DAC ruin it?

Is it even worth trading a 2x for a 2?

Or will I not be happy anyway, because my skills as a programmer are weak as it is?

All the reviews I read rave about how incredible the sound is. I don't get it, there must be something Im doing wrong.

So, trade 2x for 2? or not?

Opions please.

I don't know anything about the music you want to make with it, nor about your skills as synth programmer and sound engineer. How about your set up in the studio and all those parameters which can be different...?

Most producers use the NordLead specially because 'how it fits in the mix'. Other musicians praise its direct interface: it's so easy to program...

Anyway, the differences between the NL2 and the NL2X aren't that big to change it, in my opinion, so keep it and try to find out all its possibilities, which are many, much more then one would think, and in the mean time visit the local synth dealer as much as he allows you to try other synths.

Why are women capable of having this behavior in shoe shops, while men can't do this in music shops? Just because it looks silly walking around with synths tied to your feet? Wink

Wout

Nord Leads have a very wide range of sounds that they are capable of. It definitely depends on the type of music you are trying to create as well.

I have a Nord Lead 3 and although I would never sell it there are times when I'm not "into" it and then other times where it completely inspires me. I've found that running it through various effects can help pull some life out of it.

Think of it this way...an electric guitar without an amp or effects can sound pretty boring. Liven it up with other pieces of gear to make "your sound" and it can become the most inspiring thing on the planet.

In your case - use your NL to learn how to become a better synth programmer and I'm sure it will pay you back well.

Hope this helps.
