hi there!

this link may be useful. nice and simple cmos circuits:
-Sequencer
-Arpeggiator
-Eight Stage Custom Waveform Generator
and others...

Yup, seen it.

It is in the wayback machine btw, but without pictures and sound samples Crying or Very sad http://web.archive.org/web/20070715123930/http://milkcrate.com.au/_other/sea-moss/

The whole milkcrate site has been wiped out it seems, so maybe it will come back?

I think this is a great link. Very instructive, but the nature is to use digital circuits as part of an analog system. That is great, but the concept of the Lunetta is to use the logic as the signal, not just as a control. The little sequencer in this link is to control a VCO. Lunettas don't have to have VCOs.

That said, thanks for the link. It is useful.

Something that is helping me to discover audio done through simple digital logic:
Atanua Logic Simulator.

It is a serious project by a student that is coming along quite nicely. You drag and drop logical operators like AND, OR, XOR, or drag over 7000 series logic chips. They can be connected however you like.

The thing I like about this simulator is that it is very intuitive and has a light footprint. There is nothing to install, you just download it and run it.

The graphics are very sharp too. The LED lights give off a stunning glow.

About a week ago I asked that audio output be supported, and Sol kindly did so. He added a COVOX unit that is an 8 bit DAC.

Here is a privative 8 step sequencer I made to demo the new audio capabilities.

I apologize about being evangelical. It is a very new offering that only handful of people know of. I'm really curious to see what more experienced EM's could build out of pure logic.

Caveat: The simulator max frequency is 500HZ

Hey, that is really cool. Thanks for posting the link. That tool could really make prototyping easier and what a great way to get a feel for how logic works.

Congrats and thanks to Jari Komppa for making this available.

thumb up

Found another link to CMOS circuit basics. This particular page is about the 4011 NAND gate, but there are others.

http://www.doctronics.co.uk/4011.htm

Very good stuff. Includes info like hooking up power to the proper pins, decoupling caps, using transistor buffers to drive LEDs (VERY simple to do), and what to do with unused pins. Looks to be a very good starting place for beginners. Highly recommended.

A few more fun links I found while looking for something else:

4093 oscillator with a simple manually tuned low pass filter. Kinda fun.
http://www.elexp.com/t_oscill.htm

Lots of CMOS pin outs, and applications info about many of the chips. Good info here.
http://www.kpsec.freeuk.com/components/cmos.htm

Nothing to do with CMOS, but these are incredible circuit/works of art!
http://www.carzaniga.ch/html/07_kuenstler/display.php3?artist=14

Chuckles – a silly sounding CMOS circuit.

Ahh, that Peter Vogel stuff (damn cool) inspired my mate Derek to make this 40106 piece in a workshop I ran last year::::

That is a very cool project. Still, I can't help but think I've seen that somewhere before...

Just wanted to make sure this link was mentioned in the thread:

http://falstad.com/circuit/

A java window will pop up at you.

If you dig into the Circuits menu, you can see heaps of CMOS and Logic examples.
