The Best of ChucK CD Subject description: Collecting ideas about releasing a CD of our best work... |
 |
|
I looked at the electro-music.com store and saw this very nice application bundle for sale and it occurred to me that we could do something for our forum hosts and spread the ChucKian word as well by bundling up our best ChucK files and offering them on a CD.
I dunno about the others, but the GNU General Public License permits us to issue such a CD and charge for the distribution, including some profit for electro-music.com.
We can see from the thousands of post reads that our stuff is worth using by lots of folks. In fact, I'm now getting 400 hits a month on my ChucK music website alone. For some people, having it all bundled up on a CD would be preferable to gathering it as best they can from posts and scattered sources.
I'd include a snapshot of my music web pages and a collection of my best ChucK files, and I'd compile the files together in a directory tree suitable for writing to a CD.
Good idea / Bad Idea? Thoughts and suggestions welcome as always. _________________ @(ºoº)@ ><}}}º> ~(^.^) <:3 )~ |

That would be nice if we can share some music and release them.
We might need someone to master all the works and finalize it also.
It'd depend on each artist. so let's give some ideas.
I'd like to send in a new song made from ChucK also.
It'd be nice also if we have a jam song..
not necessary for all the members to jam, just 2-3 artists per song is cool. Last edited by kijjaz on Mon Mar 31, 2008 3:56 am; edited 1 time in total |

OK kijjaz, I volunteer to collect all the files into a directory tree and create a .tar.gz file of it. I did this before on the math music project and it worked OK, though I still need to update the video to include those last two contributions.
I have created songs in three categories: Rock, Electronic, and Relaxation. These are mostly done with Guitar Lab, though I've dabbled with Synth Lab songs as well. None of them have lyrics, just guitar(s) and drums or maybe flute or mandolin. Mostly using your instruments, kijjaz.
So far we have the following:
o a snapshot of my web pages
o all my software that's worth distributing
o about 5 good songs and riffs
o the math/music project
o ChucK itself (gotta ask if we can do that)
o I'll create a README.txt file for my directory and for the CD
o hopefully lots of other contributions
Proposed Directory Structure
/README.txt
/users/inventor
/users/kijjaz
/users/...
/songs/math
/songs/...
/chuck/... _________________ @(ºoº)@ ><}}}º> ~(^.^) <:3 )~ |
