48 khz ? |
|
|
Pierre, I do have a question. I´m still digesting your PDF, but one thing caught my eye early on.
You have digital ins and outs here.. at 48khz 24 bit. The samplesize of 24 is excellent! Great! But why 48khz? These days I know of none who are using 48khz gear anymore. DAT is essentially dead and most people will at all cost try to prevent having to apply SRC. I see one device has 192 khz. Hmm.. OK.. there are projects that just might require that samplerate, but most people will want to work with 44.1 khz, 88.2 or 176.4.
Is there any specific reason why you have chosen 48khz ? _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

I've been required to deliver stuff in 48 KHz for soundtrack work, fwiw

Would it be possible to offer a user selectable sample rate of 48 or 44.1 kHz for the IO? In which case I suppose the internal sample rate would be changed correspondingly (from 96/192 to to 88.2/176.4 kHz).

48 Khz Subject description: 48 +khz |

Hi E80
In technical data we indicated 48 Khz standard, ... and 96 .. 192 khz at option in writing the brochure (this is a preliminary informations). My point of view is that would probably not make sense to have option on it and have at least 192 khz as standard - this is also question to consider different elements as standard (not decided yet) propably 6 outputs standards, we have actually some thought about this.
Also the ADC - DAC can be downsampled |

Sampling rate etc Subject description: tests |

In fact we made tests at higher non standard sampling rate and ultrasonic waves too, but my cat didn't liked it
If you look on the 2 websites the Acxel is the application, the RPP is the technology, and the RPP can handle other applications types, like video encoding-decoding for example. Then I would say the limitations are the ADC-DAC themselves, not the Acxel native Processor.
The current discussions (if you on the brochure (attached) we propose 3 Synthesis modes, but the native synthesis mode can handle various modes like Physical modeling, Vocoders, etc. and in combinations. The Acxel can integrate external instruments into sound structure, etc.
Eventually (not this year) Acxel structure (with one RPP or more) can be a studio environment...
