does the Andromeda play beats and drums and stuff ? ive heard demos but im not sure if the beats are from the Andy or from something else.

Umm... it doesn't do beats in the normal drum machine sense but you can set up multis to do little rhythms, analogue ones of course. I've not done it myself but I'm guessing you program the arp for each preset within a multi to give the pattern(s) you want.

Maybe you've heard demos of the factory multis?

How good is Andromeda?
It's awesome. Downside is you never feel ok with digital synths after it, atleast i didn't.

Get one with warranty and it helps a lot Smile

Interestingly i think getting power from different power "phase" broke my andro's outboard.

Hell, weirdest thing is i got electric shock by leaning against our guitarist's massive rack, and then i plugged in audio plug to andro's main out and zzzzaaaaaakkk, i got electrocuted a lil bit, i'm not sure how it's possible but we suspect it's because rack leaks electricity, and andro got it's power from different power phase. I'm not sure though if it broke it or not since outboard was already gooner by that point, i was just testing it when that happened.

Also, i experienced that with my phantom-xr rack. I took xr's power from different phase, and laptop's power from another ( hell i didn't know anything about this kind of issues ) and when i plugged in USB cable from laptop to XR, it sparkled!! =) Not kidding... i was like whatta hell????!?!
That happened twice. Luckily the rack and laptop survived. And i don't mean just little tiny spark, i mean it really really sparkled for good! LoL

Perhaps we should get new rehearsal studio or something...

Little bit offtopic again...
But anyways, andro is a bliss, and honor to own.

sounds like it's a very good idea to work on a proper grounding of the electricity in your rehearsalroom, prefeably before somebody gets electrocuted.
make sure there is a good connection to the ground and avoid groundloops. lots of info on the subject on the net

I'm really liking the demos of the A6 on youtube, I could get one if i sold my fully expanded Fantom XR.

i seem to change gear every few months lol.

the Poly Evolver looks interesting.

anyone have any comments about the Access Virus TI or the Nord Lead 2x ?

IRO the Virus TI and NL2X I have owned both these synths.....

In my candid opinion NL2X's are not worth the money these days. The filter is weak and the keyaction is very poor. The memory expansion of the X is a nightmare for two reasons. Firstly you have to cycle through patches according to number (hmmm now where did I find that nice pad...was it patch 32? was it patch 52....oh no I cant remember....I'll just cycle through numbers 25-65). Secondly, the NL2X is a simple synth......are you going to feel motivated to program your own sounds when it already has 1000 presets on board that cover all of the synths capabilities? Incidently the Virus TI also has this problem....

IMHO you should buy a mint original NL2 and forget the X and save yourself £400.

With regards to the VirusTI.....hands down the best sounding VA synth you can buy. The Virus sounds like a Virus and is not trying to sound like an emulation of something else....thats why I like it/respect it. Build quality and keyaction are the best of any synth. Virus really excels at VA type digital atmospheres - unique sound http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=1R2gyqxLIWE&fmt=18 . If you are torn between an Andromeda or some other synth....then I honestly think that other synth should be the Virus TI. Check out the above video and see if you like it.

I have a Virus Ti and really love it, eventually I got a Moog Voyager and it wasnt my cup of tea...sold it and got the A6, funny enough I find the A6 more modern sounding ala Virus Shocked , am I way wrong about this?
Honestly the Virus Ti gets much more use, perhaps because all the bells and whistles it offers.
I really want an analogue synth that offers what the Virus Ti cant and Im hoping the A6 is it......or should I look elsewhere?
