I've got an XT that has 30 voices, and an XTk that has 10 voices.

Is there a "card" or anything I can extract from the XT, and put it in my XTk keyboard, so that the XTk then would have 30 voices?

If so, how do I do this?

thanks in advance -

Richard

Yes, the extra 20 voices are obtained from the extra DSP in an expansion card. I believe the card works with both the XT and XTk. I think I even read somewhere that the same card worked with the Q, but who knows?

Now, what I don't know is if the card can be easily removed from the XT and inserted in the XTk by the user, or if it requires some technical support.

Yep, the 30 voice upgrade is the same that works in both the XT and XTK so you can swap them. The upgrades were originally done by the suppliers in their relevant countries - as opposed to the Nord modular G2 voice upgrades which can be done by the user themselves.

My advice would be to mail Waldorf directly or forums such as these to get hold of an upgrade guide and do it yourself seeing as though the XT is not supported by the suppliers anymore.

Personally I haven't felt the need to upgrade my 10 voice XT as I haven't produced a tune that requires more than two tracks of XT noises - it does have a sound which dominates a mix (in a good way)
