New Blofeld owner |
|
|
Hello, all, just a quick introduction of myself to this sub-forum.
I finally gave in to my gear acquisition syndrome, and got my Blofeld this past week, just in time before the US pricing went up $100. (They were $699, but are now $799.) I'm really liking it. It's a good complement to the Alesis A6. The sound quality is surprisingly rich. It's a versatile instrument.
I'll try to post some mp3's later in the week.
Yesterday was my first opportunity to try it out. I was intending to just plug it in to test to make sure it worked ok. Three and a half hours later, I realized that the entire afternoon had just disappeared!
I'm considering making up a NiMH battery pack for it to make it portable. The specs say it takes 12VDC at 300 mA, so a pack of 2000 mAH batteries should let it play for a few hours. If and when I do that, I'll be sure to post the details.
Anyway, thanks to everyone for the discussion on this forum; it helped me to decide, and I'm not at all disappointed with the purchase!

Waldorf gear is really something special and the Blofeld is amazing. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

No one seems to have these in stock right now - any news about when they will be available? _________________ www.gregwaltzer.com |

How does the Blofeld compare soundwise to the XT? I think the XT is very rich sounding and if the Blofeld sounds like one I'd definitely shell out for it. Does anyone know? |

Well, I can only compare to the PPG Wave 2.3 and Blofeld is of course way more rich and fat even though the PPG has analog filters. The only thing that is wrong with the Blofeld is the price. I mean, you would expect a toy at this price point. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

I think you hit the nail on the head there. The low price of the Blofeld makes me question whether it's a heavyweight synth or not. |
