Hi-
I'm new to this forum. I am a singer/pianist in an electro-acoustic group called Gleam from Minnesota. We are having some problems as of late with live sound issues. My vocals along with the beats are going into Dan's computer and the last few shows we can never get the vocals loud enough through the monitors and the sound guys always say they can't turn up his computer through the board any louder. When he turns down the beats on the master level you still can't hear. Would using a Y cable solve this problem? I'm going into his computer so that he can control effects on my voice live. Anyone?

Hi and welcome. Sorry nobody has answered yet.

Let me get this straight in my head. You are doing live music where your entire voice is going into a computer, and then out to sound guys?

Shouldn't the computer be set up like a normal effect, ie patched through one of the FX send/returns?

If you give me some more detail about your signal path (and detail is very helpful) I would be happy to offer advice. It sounds like the vocal level is being stomped in the computer, when it should be on the main mixer.

Thanks for the response. We actually made a y-cable and had my vocals going into the board and just the FX coming out of the computer so that helped. I have a different question. I want to have more control over my vocals and the effects we use. Do you have any suggestions for a particular pedal or effects box I could use?

Hmmm... have you checked out the various vids here? :

I've not used any live myself but they do sound very good quality. And the pedal versions would be very controllable by you, song to song.
