so i'm putting together an analog synth, and as my main oscillators i'm thinking about using two livewire dalek modulators.

keep in mind that i would not be using the synth for tempered music by any means, so the fact that they are not scaled to 1v/oct is not a concern.

i suppose my main concerns are a few things:

what do the waveforms look like on an oscilloscope?

is the horizontal symmetry control for saw/ramp type waves and pwm for the sine and square waves, respectively?

and finally, what are the ranges of frequency in high and low mode? (i guess i'm specifically concerned with the high not going low enough)

any input from dalek modulator users would be appreciated, thanks.

I wouldn't suggest them for your only oscillators. Maybe one normal oscillator and one dalek, but not 2 dalek. Especially not if you are doing straight tuned-note music with your set up and not atmosphere wierdness or noise.

There is some cross talk at all times with the 2 dalek oscillators. They are designed to modulate each other not to have nice clean waveforms.

I think the more important thing is where you would get 2 Daleks. They aren't being made right now and any shop advertising new ones is likely just putting you on a waiting list. Everyone has been sold out of Livewire stuff for months.

I'm just getting used to my panel osciliscope. I can try and to a video of some waveforms and post it up if I get a chance soon.

ah okay, thank you. yeah another option i was considering was one dalek and one model 15. didn't know that the daleks were in short supply right now, but seeing as i'm still in the planning stages for my stuff, hopefully by the time i scrounge up my money, some will be available. i was aware of the cross modulation bleed, but i also heard that this only happens when the two oscillators are not on the same mode (hi/lo) right?

I tried to post a vid showing my panel scope with the dalek. It wasn't showing up that good, and after the youtube encoding it was even harder to see the waveforms so I deleted it. My camera is crap and without having a tripod it shakes like mad.

Suffice to say there is a variance on one side of the sine wave that is very noticeable with the cv control all the way zero to limit the cross modulation. The square is not as noticeable on my scope, but it is there.

Not a Dalek, I need to build a case or something before I get more modules.
But here's a video I made yesterday of two Model 15s doing FM synthesis. Oscilloscope and all. A little blurry, but enough to see something.

And I know these are available and in production. I got the system last week.
