i know i want to build one or the other...or both. can i get some opinions from anyone who uses these modules? Question

You could build the sequential switch, mix the 8 gate outputs together with a switch for each, and voila! You have both Cool

Other than that, they really have nothing to do with one another. I don't see any reason not to have both.
