Interesting things to do with Delay loops |
|
|
So i have been messing with delay feedback paths and inserting various bits n bobs of late and was wondering what other people do.
Have had interesting results placing, pitch shifter and frequency shifters in the feedback path along with reverbs, filters and EQs.
What else can you do?
Any combinations you've really liked? _________________ iP (Ross)

it might sound boring(no effects used) but i just take 2 2sec delays set to endless and shift loop on loop with the guitar, occasionally together with my olde ms-10.i put a compressor at the end of all to avoid too high peaks, in case of overdoing.
or take the quad delay put to 4 oscillators set in different pitch and panned left right left right, gentle noise delay.
ah and i once tried to emulate an electribe EA butt it ended in a delay/reverb drone.
i'd post patches but have no possibility at work _________________ gardening, not architecture... |

Not quite sure what you mean, shift loop on loop, could you explain a little bit more?

Don't get this either but it sounds cool.

hehe.. the Electribes are harder than you might think to emulate, have struggled in the past, when i have tried to emu the ER1 for function.
*is also at work, apparently working hard. * _________________ iP (Ross)

Did you ever tried Rob Hordijk's 4 Slot sampler?
It was made in the early years of the G2, but in the archive here, for sure.

Hmm.. not sure.. might have. Definately tried one that can hold various loops..
I think maybe my question is coming off wrong, what i am atcually interested in is:
A delay with custom feeback paths.. and hence the sound degrades or changes on each repeat through the delay.
But please feel free to suggest any other fun things to do with delay. _________________ iP (Ross)

I'm not supposed to either, but I'm all alone here ... workplace gone home already, administration same thing, boss is selling stuff somewhere and a couple are on holiday ... the work is mostly done, fixing some colours and alignments on two PC tools that I recently upgraded .. will be home early today I guess.
Anyway, it's interesting to have stuff in the delay loop! _________________ Jan

LOL!
Well unfortunately I work in a busy office, on pc with no speakers, which is connected to a government secured server... I'm only allowed to breathe because stopping me would impair my ability to build reports. _________________ iP (Ross)

@ipassenger:
i meant that i just play sth. and play over it again, a bit like robert fripp does,(actually pretty much like he does ,but i have to say i came to it before i knew his way) maybe shift is the wrong word for it.
the other thing is like the following:
in->quad delay->first out->pitchtracker in->oscillator(-12),pan:straight left
and so on with the other outputs of the delay.each osc is panned an octave higher and panned in the oposit dir. of the one before.
this makes a strange but gentle delaysound for a guitar playing a decent singlenote line.
edit: year, down with the office tyranny!!! Last edited by Argosound on Wed Sep 03, 2008 7:36 am; edited 1 time in total |

Anyway, just a tad of pitch shift in the delay loop but fast modulation. |
Lovely unstable melody.
