I moved this to Developers' Corner.

This is interesting. Our server has Zend installed, but I can't say I see any performance improvement over the old server which didn't. I'm sure there is some improvement, but it's not dramatic. The thing that seems to slow down the forum is network congestion and database access, in that order.

Anyway, thanks for posting this. I'm always interested in PHP developments. I'm still running PHP4 here. I guess I should look at upgrading to PHP5. Thought I'd let it cook in before jumping onboard with that because I really don't need it from a feature standpoint.

The roadsend thing is an independent implementation of php, totally commercial but supposedly it supports the plugin API so one should be able to create standalone, cross-platform, GUI'ed applications using php-gtk.

I haven't upgraded to php5 yet either. I hear there are a lot of new features but haven't looked into it. I still haven't outgrown php4. Lots left to learn.
