I've watched the video of how this thing works and, I must say, this is the silliest interface design I believe I've ever seen in a software synth. As for the sounds, they're fair to mediocre, at best.

so I guess you are on the 'marketing gimmick' camp of synplant... though you have to say that this is definitely 'out of the box' thinking...at the very least.

Well, I wasn't really thinking it was a marketing gimmick, but, since you've mentioned it, it does seem that way. The thing is, I'm not sure who they are trying to appeal to, if it is a marketing gimmick. Tree-hugging electronic musicians, perhaps? Wink

Yup and an interesting idea as well, trying to find a screen interface from a sound perspective & it sounds & looks good too. Thanks for posting this!

The review was of great interest. The instrument concept seems like a great idea. Very Happy

It's obvious from both your statements that you've never tried it.

While the branch part of the interface looks quirky, it works very well for coming up with sounds and variations of sounds quickly (there's also an undo function). And, if you want to go to the "DNA" screen, you'll find it to be very programmable at the same time.

Try the demo- you might be surprised.

I think there is something to be said about thinking outside of the box and taking a totally different approach to a virtual instrument, instead of the usual nobs and button twitching.

I totally agree. In the end, it's not what a plug-in looks like or what it sounds like, but what you do with it, right? Idea Very Happy

Well the basic interface seems quite like some of the Logic synths to me and I find them pretty easy to use.

Looks a little like genetic algorithms at work to me and I've always liked em.

I'm gonna have a play with it.

One of the most cutting-edge media companies in the world is currently working with this for sound development. 'nuff said.

Love mine. Demo is fully operational for 3 weeks...and then the plant dies Smile I bought it and find I prefer it over quite a few other softs that I have, right now I pretty well use zebra, sylenth, synplant, omnisphere, and stylus. plus logic. Its kinda unruly and wacky.. I love that little plant.
