MN3005 instead of MN3007 in Subtle Chorus |

Is there any utility in using MN3005's instead of MN3007's in the Subtle Chorus? While the packaging is different, I'm not adverse to adapting the MN3005 to fit. If I understand the data sheets (big assumption here) they are compatible and electrically swappable in a circuit with the difference being the delay.
Thoughts?

| IMHO I can't see it being much use as chorus effect relies on a short delay time - assuming same clock speed the MN3005 would increase delay time by a factor of four as it is 4096 stage against 1024 stages for the MN3007. I think you'd loose the chorus effect and have a very short slap back echo instead? |

More latency, higher distortion, more noise, too high a modulation index.

Well... there you go. Off to look for another use. The datasheet has an interesting echo/reverb circuit. I might give that a go...

Datasheet quotes clock frequency as 40khz, I'm intrigued to know how you could get this up to 5mhz................. |
