I got a G2 recently and I was trying to do a “exact” conversion (sound achitecture and user interface) of the NordLead2x from what I could understand of the Nord Lead 2 manual. I don’t own a NL2 but I’m doing this patch as an exercise.

However, I ran unto something I could not figure out : Synched Noise.

From the manual :

If Sync is activated selecting Noise will produce very special signals with non-transposed
formant spectrum with strong “body resonance” characteristics. The reason ‘synched noise’ works at all is that it’s the same series of frequencies that are synched (repeated over and over). In a traditional analog system this function wouldn’t work since the noise is totally random. In ‘Sync wave’ mode the SEMITONES knob works as a “waveform selector”. Turning the knob will change the harmonic content of the sound. The Sync wave selection is not continuous, but stepped, in steps that correspond to the octave markings around the SEMITONES knob.

This is different from the “delay line with feedback tuned to the keyboard” of the string oscillator right?

Is there a way to model synched noise on the g2?

Sounds like the 'formant oscillator' that Rob has descibed here

Another way of doing this is the patch mentioned here:
http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-3424.html

That one uses the pattern generator as synced noise osc.
