Oh, I was mainly hoping to be able to read along during the next show; no need to rush.

Maybe we could trade code in the chat during the show as well?

Kas, you are one of the few people who *could* just read code while it was played and understand it well. The chat seems to be limited to chatting, blocks of code would probably be too much. Go figure. There is this dcc feature for transferring files that I've never used. Maybe that's the thing.

Well, yes, the chat is limited right now, but maybe it could grow? Maybe not for large complicated pieces but for smaller ones such a distribution method might make sense?

What I want is basically audio with sub-titles.

Yes, Kas, I agree. I'm sure that chat interfaces will grow to meet our needs. For now dcc is the way to eschange files as far as i know. Never tried it though. Do you use a mirc-like client or the site's chat?

Me too! :¬)

Still, maybe the forum makes more sense to distribute code, I don't know about the details of the chat.

code fragments of a couple of lines wouldn' t mess the chat up too much I'd say, if longer the forum would be better IMO.

I'd like to contribute this code for the show.
I tried to make it evolves a little bit all the time, but the overall tone is still the same. The idea is to use only one Sine Oscillator, FMed by a White Noise, filtered and echo a bit.

Calling all "Code Warriors", the theme of the next ChucK show will be just that. So post your code here and I'll play it for sure...

more evolved version of the system, but with 7/4 rhythmic cycle.. when I improvised on the drum shreds, i'm easily confused what beat it is, so i added Flute to count for me and act as a drone also.

Hi guys!
Hereby my new code. It's based on some simple modulo maths, but I added a regular substraction for a repeating pattern.

I like it, like it, yes I do! I'll try to feature it on the next ChucK Show, but there is an awful lot of code set up for it already. If not it will be on the following week.

Oh, and by the way just tonight shane and I tested a dual computer broadcasting setup that will allow us to run LIVE ChucK!!! Can't wait to see what mayhem and chaos will ensue...

Another piece, showing a simple grain extraction from sound file. Try with other sound files for fun ! It can sound like simple time-stretching.

http://www.4shared.com/file/105016023/2292dea0/kijjaz-SimpleGrainExtract-01.html
(this one includes the original source sound file, but you can change the file name)

This one with high-pass filter instead, smooth but more freaky.

http://www.4shared.com/file/105020032/2e45fa7b/kijjaz-SimpleGrainExtract-01-HPF.html

This one is constantly looping in reverse.

http://www.4shared.com/file/105020488/2a6d6272/kijjaz-SimpleGrainExtract-01-Reversed.html

Freakiest reversed version.. sounds more insect-like

kij met me in the chatroom just now and showed me this code. Very fun stuff! Will appear on the show at some point. Note: it requires the latest ChucK so it won't work with the currently available miniAudicle. Use command line ChucK to run it. More great stuff from kijjaz! Smile

I have even more good news for The ChucK Show. After testing the new setup that allows live ChucK with shane, I spent about an hour coding up a controller based microphone interface.

See the photo below for the controller that I made a while back. I had all the parts in house so it cost me nothing except what I paid long ago for the parts. It looks like a 5-axis, 2-switch joystick to ChucK.

So what I coded is the slider as a master volume control, the four pots controlling the "Demonic Chipmunk" Vocoder, and the two switches as mute controls. Oh, just for your curiosity I am also posting the code.

It's going to be a great show, so tune in!

Here's an interesting video I just saw:

According to the author:

"A patch I made in chuck using the monome to control granular synthesis parameters. Two sound buffers can be controller and how ever many grain instances can be added until your computer craps out.

The monome controls grain position in the sound buffer, randomness of position, grain length, pitch, randomness of pitch, and volume.

The sound files im using are the amen break and a vocal sample."

More info here.
