[University] Feedback on new type of hardware controller Subject description: University Project designed for DJ's and electronic artists |
|
|
Hi!
I'm posting here in the hopes that some of you might be interested in helping out with answering a couple of questions about a new music-controller we are making at Aalborg University (Denmark).
We would like to hear what you think about a project we are currently working on, and if you have suggestions for changes or something you feel is missing (or if you think you can use it).
Here's a short video describing the project: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bV8KF9thQGw
You can fill out the questionnaire here: http://survey.playground-gfx.com/forums.html?sid=18863&newtest=Y&lang=en
It takes about 5-7 minutes to fill out, and in the process you'll be able to shape an entirely new interface for controlling music, filters and effects.
We really hope that some of you are willing to help us out.
Thank you for your time.

Looks like a cool project. I filled out your survey.
Suggestion:
Use encoders for the knobs and also have the let indicators on the knobs like you have for the faders.
Try to add LCD labels that identify the function of the knobs and other controls. In live performance that is important. Suggest something like the G2. _________________ --Howard

It looks interesting but I'd like to make a couple of points.
Firstly, there is a modular control system already out there, I can't remember the name of it but I do remember that it is used (mostly) with Ableton.
Secondly, the conical 3D controller you have reminds me very much of the controller on the Alesis airsynth... It may be worth checking that out just incase you infringe upon any patents.
Good luck with it though... I have a feeling that this could develop into an interesting product. |

You're probably thinking of Mawzer or maybe Faderfox. Mawzer is closer to this in concept, i.e. truly modular. _________________ Chris Muir

Both those names ring a bell actually. |
