That's an option too, I didn't indeed really destruct things. _________________ Jan

The page I made was not meant meant to be a public service or an official archive of recordings, but rather as a service for people to be able to re-listen their own set, but this was a bad idea and I apologize for having done this. |
I think having a download page for the sets is a good idea! Just need to make clear that the music is copyrighted so the public won't assume it is public domain. Also, just need to get permission from the artists to offer it for download first. No big deal.
Or, another way of handling it might be to ensure the download page is only accessible to E-M members, via password or something. Then it can be as informal as we like without worrying about what the general public might do with the material.
All good stuff, and no reason to have to take down the entire page. |

Just to make it official, I am OK with my set being put up.
For me, just a little note and perhaps a link to the CC site is all I require.
I enjoyed the whole event, from start to finish, really really much and it has me feeling all dreamy and relaxed all yesterday and today. The musical and technical levels were incredibly good and the variety of directions it took me in was mind blowing! I am so impressed I have no words for it...
Thanks to all who took part. _________________ Muied Lumens Sub Forum

I actually downloaded David's set when it first went up on the archive as I wanted to listen to it but couldn't stay awake any longer, and I'm glad I got it before it was removed as I quite enjoyed it
I can delete the mp3 if you want David?
Maybe we could find some way to have a re-broadcast of the sets at a different time on a later date to give people a chance to catch the sets that they missed on the day due to other commitments.
I know I missed a fair bit because I was busy getting my stuff ready and missed mystahr's set because I had to get some tea
Then people don't have to make the music available for free download if they don't want, but still get a bit more exposure _________________ Jez

It would be best IMO to post it here, that way you'll have full control over attribution etc. I upped your quota. _________________ Jan

Another suggestion for all this talk of downloding and permission, simply add it as a question in the application for future events like this.
Item 7. is an example but can be changed any way one wants:
1.Preferred Start Time (GMT/UTC):
2.Name (stage name if there is one):
3.Location:
4.Real name:
5.Username:
6.Set Length (30 or 60 min.):
7.Permission to have your set downloadable on electro-music.com YES/NO:
8.One or Two Paragraph Description: |

We are not going to post any performances of this concert going forward. If people would like their music posted on electro-music.com, please upload it yourself, as some people have already done. We'll give you enough disk quote.
We are going to beef up our general media use agreements as well. I, for one, am not a fan of the Creative Commons license because it gives people the right to copy and distribute music (optionally with attribution and for only non-commercial purposes). I personally don't want my music copied or redistributed for any purpose without my knowing and without my permission.
Sorry we were not clear about this, or properly organized. We are learning as we go along. _________________ --Howard

And there is the link to my set. All new material composed with Reason, Reaktor, Atmosphere, Albino, Zebra and recycled audio. Performed on laptop using Ableton Live.
Enjoy! Feel free to link to it, dub and give it away, whatever. Thanks to Shane, Bill, Jan, Mosc for putting this together. And especially Stillstream.com for the nice online crowd! _________________ "Oh, it's yours? Then go ahead and kick the shit out of it..." as said to Michael Victor by Howard Moscovitz 06/05/05

I second all of the above, and thanks, Michael, for an excellent set. _________________ When the stream is deep

No worries. By all means, listen to it if you've got it. Listening is good!
Look, I realize that people often record streamed broadcats anyway, and I perform broadcast sets every couple weeks, so that's not a huge concern for me. As long as those recordings are kept reasonably private, there's no real harm done. I just prefer to decide which material gets a "wide" release, and to make sure the recording of the performace that eventually gets put into circulation better represents the source quality than an efficient streaming bitrate can. So just check with me before passing the recording along to anyone else, and there's no problem at all. _________________ Emerald Adrift

I would like to say to all of the participants, operators, and listeners that made Summer Solstice 09 a huge success!!!
The music was nothing short of FABULOUS!!! I truly enjoyed every act! That was really top notch stuff from everyone!
The Stillstream relay went off very well and was a lot of fun working with the SS crew! I think this is the start of something great here
The EM radio peaked at 34 listeners and I was pleased to see an almost equal number of people in the chatroom throughout the entire event!!! This was the least problematic and smoothest running fest yet and its all due to great teamwork all around!
....and to answer questions of will there be another? Hell Ya! Most certainly!
The solstice's and equinoxes have been discussed for having more online concerts for sure. So keep on the lookout around those times.
Thanks again everyone! _________________ ElectroCasa |
