Bill the washing machines have almost always been impromtu. But, there does seem to be a Saturday Night pattern though... Just come in the chatroom. mosc assigns the port/pw .

Usually someone will just announce their washing...and ask if anyone needs any washing done

OK Shane, Thanks. So no real schedule but seems like a cool way to hang out on a Saturday and feed the machine Cool

OK then, I will get my computer setup in the studio. I will just get on the Chat and have you fellas refresh my memory on how to configure Edcast. From what I remember, it's rather easy to get going. I have an M-Audio Delta 44 and it should work fine with that.

Thanks again ...
Bill

Here's a picture of the PD patch I used to stream directly to the electro-music streaming server.

I want to make a new washing machine out of two computers, a controller, a guitar input, at least one of three microphones, and the interesting part: a 3-axis accelerometer with a USB interface. I plan to play the guitar and talk or sing, plus have a friend with me who also talks or sings. The friend will hold the accelerometer and wave it around, creating some interesting effects within the washing machine.

Basically my question is: what on earth can I control with the accelerometer? It should be something expressive and dynamic, plus be instantly obvious rather than have latency. I'm thinking of putting a pitch shifter on the output with a delay feedback loop and controlling the pitch and delay via two of the accelerometer axes (x and y), but there are lots of other possibilities.

What would you do with an accelerometer as a control input to a washing machine?

An old and unimaginative but fun thing to tweak like this might be the threshold and dry/wet mix (and maybe even Q, making use of all three axes) of a lowpass or bandpass filter?

Yes, Stefan, If I used a second order low-pass filter with Q>1, then it would be like a wah pedal. It could make both voice and guitar go wah. This is cool.

Maybe I could have a mode switch that selects between a few different uses of the accelerometer. Hmmm...

As posted in the Pure Data website, "the pd-extended installers and packages include most of the libraries from the Pd CVS repository. These are generally the most complete assembly of all available libraries, extensions, and documentation. They are built to be easy to install."

So, you should find it in the extended version of Pd.
Wink

The mp3cast~ box is used here instead of the dac~ box.
