Subject description: How to hard sync an oscillator with another oscillator.

Hi,

Rob was interested in how to do this, so here is our first tutorial:

1. Create A new Sound

2. Drag an Oscillator into your sound and double click it.

3. Change the Frequency field to !Freq1smoothed

4. Now we need another Osc for syncing, lets copy the one we have:

Select the oscillator and copy it with CMD/CTRL C

Now click in the Reset field of the original oscillator and paste with CMD/CTRL V

5. Double click the background to refresh the sound and click on the input dots to expand.

6. Select the first OSC in the chan and set Frequency to !Freq2 smoothed

Play the sound and muck about with the frequencies.

Thank you kindly.

I will have a play with it and also replace the master oscillator with a live input to see how that works.

Thanks, being new to Kyma and this website I appreciate the tutorials.

How about now controlling the sound with an ADSR triggered by !KeyDown and the base oscillator's pitch via !KeyPitch?

Actually I am beginning to think what I said above is incorrect Embarassed

The Reset field of the oscillator is not acting how I thought it should.

I Am thinking about it..

Not a problem, I appreciate the successes as well as failures. Regardless of whether you achieved your goal, I came across some interesting sounds due to your tutorial.

The miss-steps are as important as the steps.

Thank you.

Now in terms of the ADSR question. This is from memory. If I make a mistake I will correct.

1) Command/Apple b and search for product
2) Drag it onto the line exiting the oscillator on the right. Make sure that you do not drag it to the + symbol.
3) Command/Apple b and search for ADSR, and drag onto the oscillator that was created when added the product prototype
4) Click on the ADSR and if "!KeyDown" is not in the gate field add it.
4) If you are using a wacom tablet and want the gate to be triggered via PenDown use "!PenDown" instead of "!KeyDown"

Hi Guys,

The problem may be the reset field not running at audio rate, not quite sure yet.

I have asked on the SymbolicSound forum, you can follow this at http://www.symbolicsound.com/cgi-bin/forumdisplay.cgi?action=displayprivate&number=7&topic=000301

P.S. We are all beginners here!

Andy

The control rate in Kyma is somewhere around 1 kHz IIRC, so if that is the only barrier it should work in some cases, but I have not yet had time to look deeper into this specific problem. Still going through the manual, learning the specifics of the timeline.
