Subject description: But there is some Progress

Things on the eChucK frontier have been slow as I have been focusing on the weekly radio show that I do for electro-music.com, as well as preparing software for the laptop battle at the EM09 festival in October. However, there has been some progress.

Specifically I created or probably just re-created an interesting little logic family for use with eChucK. It's called LEDIL (pronounced ladle), for Light Emitting Diode Inverter logic. Basically it's DTL (Diode Transistor Logic) from the olden days, but with LEDs instead of ordinary diodes. This is nice for simple logic functions like NAND and NOR since all the inputs and the logic result are displayed on the LEDs that perform the logic function. I constructed and DC tested a LEDIL NAND circuit and it worked just fine.

Also I have gathered together the supplies for creating a Karplus-Strong string synthesis module in analog hardware form. I hope to test this soon. If it works, I will combine it with a LEDIL Boolean Sequencer to create a new DIY noisemaker board that folks can kit together. I plan to design it so that it can be a stand-alone guitar/percussion synth, a modular synthesizer card, a Lunetta card, or even an eChucK module. This will be accomplished by providing solder points and cut traces and/or jumper wires so that the device is fully configurable.

Obviously there is a lot of work to do on this project, so please be patient as I fit it into my available time. Well, that's the update.

Les
