Hello,

Just finished up two Bananamankato, they look the same, so this is a picture of just the one! Thanks Magic Smoke and Thomas Henry for making this amazing machine available!

Awesome! I love the old school 'test equipment' feel. Cool stuff. You win extra points for the name too (sounds like the name of a monster from an old Godzilla film). Smile

I second Tim Servo's comment and just commented to that effect on Matrix Synth. Can we see a shot of the whole synth please?

Well I posted a photo on Muff Wiggler, on page 9 of this thread (scroll down):

http://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/topic-2616-160.html

(I won't post here cos its not all TH stuff, a bit OT maybe?)

I've finally got to where I want to be with the panel designs, and as I have most of my stuff behind temporary 3mm MDF panels, I'm going to be repanelling as fast as I can! (the TH stuff includes two of the Bananamankato, 6 SN Voices and 2 Super Controllers) The backlog of stuff to get ready means I have not - as yet - got around to any of the newer Magic Smoke boards...

Well, when I started this malarkey I had a Eurorack, and tried to keep that up, but the PITA minijacks and fiddly sizes (and 12v operation) put me off, so I moved to the Frac standard. The panels are 2mm aluminium, which I get cut to Frac widths, the larger 7.5" are about £1.50. I have a pillar drill for the holes. Then I spray the front with acid etch primer, then matt paint (the colour) then I do the lettering with dry rub transfers, it is a bit of a fiddle, but cheap. Then a matt varnish to protect the lettering. The acid etch really gives the panel surface a resilient finish, it bonds to the paint and the panel really well, I've had a few scrapes with spanners and screwdrivers, but not scratched any paint off (yet)...

To cut a long story short Laughing

Anyway, I'm really happy with the look, and it is really fun to play something that I feel totally pleased with... If you know what I mean!

Wow, that was so long ago I did that, but you're right -minus- it was Orator, I seem to think it was Orator Standard myself, but you're probably right on the bold...

Ah a lucky guess! It suits the style of the panels rather well. Just out of interest, how did you apply the graphics to the panels? Is it screen printed or a transfer of some kind?

It's dry-rub transfer, like letraset - massive ballache tbh!

I've moved on a bit since then, now get stuff printed onto formica using direct-to-media printing which works out if you do a few at a time... There's some pics of that on the blog below

Also using Gill Sans now!
