It would be very nice to have a utility that would take a midi file and display it's output both visually and audibly, in Janko, Wicki (Thummer/jammer) and Triad (C-Thru) layout. I have strong reason to believe (experimental proof from playing my jammer) that it would illustrate how musical compositions work.

I don't know Chuck - can it do this?
If only one can be done, Wicki format would be the best to have.

Ken.

SuperCollider can read MIDI files (using SimpleMIDIFile in the wslib quark) and, with Pen, can draw basic shapes pretty easily.

Thanks, I'll look at it. do you have a sample or two in mind that I can start from?

Keykit from Tim Thompson or MAM Player from Stephen Malinowski. With Keykit you can program anything you want midiwise and MAM Player is just a similar tool as you want offering its own set of visualization algorithms. Where can we read the specification of your visualization method in all its details?
