The result of a night of noodling...
((let it play for a while, it makes some very interesting changes
some info...
SLOT A / ROOD
contains a phase & string oscillator, serial connected.
Pitch from both oscillators is controlled from a rnd pattern module
and feeded trough a key quantizer.
The phase osc receives audio from bus 1, 2 , 3 & 4 (Slot D, VA & EFX part)
This slot generates the notes, check the variations for other presets
SLOT B / GEEL
contains an experiment with 12 voice filters & 12 bandpass filters
modulation is controlled by 3 shiftregister delays
Receives audio from bus3 (Slot D)
SLOT C / BLAUW
another experiment, this time with the reverb tail from bus1
feeded trough a stringoscillator & controlled by a sequencer
SLOT D / GROEN
based around one of my other experiments "pascae.pch"
but I've added alot of stuff. The output from the vocoder is
routed to bus 1&2 (Slot A, C) & the output from the FX
area is routed to Bus 3&4 (Slot A, B)
Enjoy!

Those mp3's are beautiful. Will have to ask my less than enthusiastic local dealer again about an expansion card. |

thanks guys!
I'm trying to strip down this version so that it will also work on an unexpanded G2, but I've some questions about the limits of the patchload
If I want to make this work on an unexpanded G2,
should the patchload in all slots be max.
VA: 100% (cycles) 50% (memory)
FX: 100% (cycles) 50% (memory)

No not quite, it seems to be a bit complicated this voice allocation thing :-)
Each DSP has 100% cycles and 100% memory.
Then you must see how many voice-sections (a word made up by me) you have. An FX area of a patch is one voicce-section and a VA area is as many voice-sections as there are voice requests.
Then in this case you've got four DSPs that the voice-sections must fit in.
To fit on a DSP means that the sum of the cycles over the voice-sections may not exceed 100% and likewise for the sum of the meemory percentages may not exceed 100%.
So when you want to be sure, keep all resources <= 50%, but you can exchange things. Say when you have one voice-piece that uses 40% memory and 40% cycles then another patch with 60% for both atributes will fit on the same DSP.
But neither for memory nor for cycles can you exceeed 100% for any DSP.
This puzzle can get quite complicated, beest to have a computer program to calculate this.

Thanks for clearing that out...
A DSP calculator would indeed be a very helpful tool for such things |

Now that my Engine is working- this was one of the first ~10 G2 Noodles I've heard.
Not realizing what Jan is referring with the Laser show & vocoder references, I started looking around for a patch called laser show, while the patch was downloading.
Now I can see the vocoder module now. It reminds me of Jean-Michel Jarre's Laser Harp- somewhat...
Very impresseive! |
