A beginner's guide to field recording:

http://audio.tutsplus.com/tutorials/recording/a-beginners-guide-to-field-recording-pt-1/

This is part 1, I will post part 2 as soon as I see it up.

Edit: Part 2...

Sounds like you are well equipped for a good field day. Don't forget some snacks and drink! Smile

Those are good starter guides!

The emphasis on getting organised in general is an excellent inclusion, which I haven't seen in other online field recording guides.

An other guide to field recording. This is a recording of a 45 minute talk held at a game developers conference, including the slides used during the lecture. I have not listened to it myself yet, but I will as soon as I have the time. These are two specific projects, and they both look very interesting. Take a look at the photos to see what I mean (or read the text). Wink

My Pleasure Eike. Smile

For anyone interested in the general field of sound design for movies and games, there is no place better to go than the Designing Sound Blog.

You'll find lots of info on all sorts of things, and you can also ask questions to some of the leading people in the industry too some times.

These are articles that you would expect to find in magazines normally!

An other blog link, this time to a designated field recording blog:

http://www.sonic-terrain.com/

It has just started up, but expect good things to come. This blog is written by professionals, with ties to Designing Sound.

...and while I'm at it, let me post an other link. Social Sound Design deals with all sorts of sound recording and design issues in a Q&A sort of way. This is an other gold mine of info, and if you cant find your question answered, you can always ask.

Today I read that soundtransit.nl will officially close on the last day of this year.
However, the archive might make it to soundcloud so, not all is bad news.
Now to cheer up, I found out about radio aporee :: maps which allows you to hear/upload from/to a world map.

Enjoy Wink

Bummer about soundtransit. I love that site.

But thanks for the link to aporee! Incredible site! I dont see that recordings are shared or downloadable though. That would be nice. But amazing combing google earth. Very Happy
