I found an interesting open source(Linux too) tool to stretch soundfiles into quite unrealistic times :
Paulstretch

I used a sound sample of 9 secs and checked out the maximum time Smile :

But if used in a moderate way, beautiful 'ambient' stuctures can be made.

Some experiments :

This sample of 9 secs, a recording from a telephone with a voice :

Stretched it to 2:24 (with a setting of adding some low harmonics) :
http://www.samshuijzen.nl/sam/arch/stretch/saldo_c2a.ogg

I wanted to check a shorter version, with a multiplication of 4, so 36 secs :
http://www.samshuijzen.nl/sam/arch/stretch/saldo_c2d.ogg

Then I wanted to recurse with this, so back to 9 secs :
http://www.samshuijzen.nl/sam/arch/stretch/saldo_c2ds.ogg

The result could be closer to the original, but I stil have to explore the settings of the app.

It's very powerful! I love the fact that you can have a stretch curve and there are lots of additional effects too. What a genius piece of software, thanks for sharing. Smile
