Have written a simple program to graphically display the envelopes of partials in an 'ads' file. These are produced by one of the csound utilities (heterodyne) that analyse a sample and provides a file that can be used by a csound operator (for resythesis in this case). I then created a G2 patch and attempted to match the envelopes of the first nine partials (or harmonics). Might apply the technique in future to those 'hard to get' sounds.
I would post the exe for the program but it is not yet complete, you have to recompile to change the input file name Rolling Eyes .

Experiment two did not turn out so well. Sad

I have to say that this is one of the more beautiful sounds I ever laid my hands, err _ears_ on. To me it sounds very, very BOC which I absolutely love.
Great work g2ian! Very Happy

Wow. Reason #213 to figure out the PCH2 file format. Then you could create patches directly in the program.

Well, I think we can forget about the PCH2 format as it is both binary and compressed and Clavia does not want to give it away.

But it should be simple to assign midi CC#s to the env params and make a little mapping utility to be able to send a CC# snapshot to the G2.

Yes, a little poking into the file showed that things are not that easy, I set up some number series in different variations and went looking with a HEX viewer, no luck. Where is that guy who cracked CSS when you need him?

I think the CC# will work as a compromise, just wish we had NRPN's or some other way of getting more than 128 controls to play with. Would like to do a .DX7 translator as well.
