Does anybody have experience with this synth? I am considering buying it, I like it's concept, and demos I've heard sounded very good to me.
I thought that it would be a good analog support for my nords, recently I've tried analog synth for a first time, and that changed my opinion that going analog wont make that much difference soundwise.
Vermona Perfourmer seems to be good choice, but I would like some comments from someone who owns it or have tried it. |

I've got one. The sounds are great, but nothing other analogs can't do. It's not far from and SH-101.
What IS different is the way I usually end up composing on the thing; cycling through 4 voices in an odd X numbered sequence and then detuning, patching and dialing in a nice 4X length sequence that I'd have never thought of without the Perfourmer. It's fun, and I can't think of another synth that can do this while driven from an external sequencer. |

Thanks! that's really good info. Do you think that the lack of fine tune knob is a problem? Is it possible to tune oscillators perfectly without it? I ask this because lots of demos I've heard were bit out of tune, but that might be intentional. And once you get it tuned, is it stable? | Agreed, a fine tune knob would be really nice. It takes some patience, but the pots are good quality and I've never not been able to tune it to my sonic satisfaction. I haven't noticed any drift and even it stays in tune after I power down and up so I can just leave it. I haven't really been scientific about it though and I always tune things by ear to a digital synth. |

I had both a perfourmer and a DRM and really liked both. The perfourmer sounds good and is a great fixed format synth.....But its strength is exactly as schmidtc said: it provides a different approach to sequences and can really make the track breathe.
here is a track i did using onlyone track of each Vermona perfourmer and DRM (dont mind the video) sequenced with numerology (highly recommended):

tuning is not that difficult but isnt great either. |

those are cool videos!
One more thing occurred to me - since I love using stompbox effects with my synths, I was wondering if is it possible to process individual perfourmer channels trough outboard gear, than return it back to the same channel, so that other voices stay the same (or may be processed with some other pedal)? Or I need mixer to do such routing (which could be too much hassle in live situations). |

Yes, both on the perfourmer and DRM, the individual channel outs can act as inserts.....meaning with an insert cable you can send the signal to an effects chain and then directly back into the perfourmer. This is nice because each channel can have its own effects chain.

well that's neat!
I've red something about those inserts in some reviews, but I wasn't sure - can you send whole channel into effect and back, or just oscillator signal?
Anyway, those semi-modular capabilities are really cool! |

my Perfourmer finally arrived! And it sounds great, I am very happy.
I've checked your SoS article, but I couldn't figure out that in/out patching you were proposing. I have tried all possible combinations, but nothing happens. Do I need stereo patch cable? I've been trying to connect two synth channels in mono mode, but all I have achieved is to make slave synth's LFO modulate master synth's VCO pitch (so, no filter or EG affected), with mono patch cable halfway down. I hope that stereo patch cable is the solution, cause nothing else works. |
