Synthpond is a cool app for making ambient loops and melodies.

It has a unique interface enabling you to play and interact with the notes visually within an x/y axis. Both the notes and the axis are movable which creates easy and quick variations on your loops to break up monotony.

There is a free version and a $1.99 dl. I recommend buying it which gives you a little more control and the ability to save loops.

Here is a link to watch it in action:

Very Happy

Just got this one too.

The basic premise is that it's a "spatial sequencer", meaning that nodes in the 2d space interact in predictable ways. There are 4 different kinds of nodes, some of which generate ripples periodically, and some which generate ripples when encountered by an existing ripple.

The 3d and 4d listening modes are worth checking out, there is a spatial field based on the positions of the nodes you place. As the ripples change, so does the spatial field. Very interesting stuff.

This is a remarkably complex and rich app that doesn't require you to use much of its capabilities to get started.

Oh, and it can send OSC messages too, so you can use it as an OSC sequencer.
