Hello kind folks,

I got a problem.
Just only one key - A# on my NMG2x behavior as following:

1.After NMG2 turning on i can play on this key ONLY SINGLE NOTE on all patches and perfs.
Because it hanging up, like endless sustain and there can help only pressing panic button.
After sound breaking by panic, this key no sound at all.
All the rest keys work fine.

2. After NMG2 turning off and on again all is repeating suchlike on point 1.

I had reinstall the lastest driver, OS and Editor 1.62, WinXP, all works fine except for A#.

After all synth's behavior without editor midi connection the same.

Do you had experienced like that?

What kind of problem can you suppose, i mean "mechanical dust
dirtying" or "electronic circuit may get broken.

I had no technical support by Clavia in Russia and i have to solve it by
myself or with good electronic engineer.

Any suggestion?

Thank you in advance.

Alex.

Definetely a mechanical failure of the bubble contact underneath that specific key.

It has two internal contact points, one when the key is it's normal position (note off), one when the key is played (note on). When you play a key, the note off contact is broken and the note on contact is made after the key has travelled fully down. The tiny time interval between these two is measured and gives the keyboard velocity value.

Sounds to me as if the note off contact is defective, so the note sticks for ever. Pressing the panic button will not help, since it only sends MIDI note offs. The keyboard MIDI controller chip however still considers the key played because it never received a note off contact. So that's why you can't play the key a second time even if the note isn't sounding anymore.

When you restart the G2, the keyboard MIDI controller chip is also resetted, so you can play the note again, once.

It's definetely mechanical. It isn't a dust/dirt issue because the bubble contacts are sealed. Don't know if they can be replaced separately.

Hi, Tim,

you are right. It was mechanical failure.
i've just resolved the problem. Smile I've opened NMG2.

It was the piece of dirt Surprised , like a small piece of paper about 1mm*1mm,
underlying exactly on the contact point.

Thank you for help and your interest.

The bubble contacts aren't hermetically sealed, though! Liquid spills DO get under there, and it is simple to take apart and clean the contacs with some alcohol. Mosc just had this problem yesterday, and someone else did about two month ago.
