Im a musician (keys) also an absolute newby to this stuff.

Basically i bought a Metasonix R-51 distortion module and want to know how to go about powering it. (Im going to be using it on Beats etc)Do i have to buy one of those doepfer mini cabinets with the 16pin plugs? Is there another way?
Thanks from Australia

The mini-cabinet is probably the cheapest way to power this. You can always get a bigger modular cabinet, throw the R-51 in it, and then slowly add to your collection.

I'm sure it's possible to rig up some DIY power source with individually sourced components, but you still need to house the unit. If you're new to the modular scene, I would recommend the A-100 mini case. That is the route I went for my R-53, and it was very much worth the relatively minor expense to house and power the unit.

The R-54 will be a whole different story. I figured I would do the same thing with it; that being placing it in a mini-cabinet, but it pulls 250 mA! The mini-cabinet will only supply about 200 mA. Oh well...I must have it.

Time to start saving for a real eurorack case

Thanks Heaps for Replying.
Im looking at buying one of those Doepfer DIY Eurorack A-100 Cabinets. That way i can add to the setup later... Cant wait to hear it crunch some beats. I also see that 'Analogue Solutions' have Power supply cabinets but are a bit pricier.
Anyway thanks heaps for pointers!!!
