Hi Thomas et.el.

I have been looking at the noise source that you have used in the Clangora and also talk about in your Noise Generator Cookbook, the Oscillator Bank Noise Source.

I was wondering how you decided upon the ratios between the oscillators? I thought that they may have been prime numbers (which they aren't) or some other interesting mathematical relationship?

Hi,

There are times when a cigar is nothing more than a cigar.

I just used intuition, guessing and my ears to select the frequencies.

Thanks for that Thomas! It was purely academic interest... I have been fiddling around with a variety of noise sources recently and was re-reading your great Cookbook.

Oh and by the way I have a laid out a press'n'peel PCB for the VC Noise source, from your 21st Century Synth. Book. Is it OK to post it for other members? I have only referenced the parts by their number, not their value, so if somebody wants to build it they will still have to buy the book.

Hello again, Forbin,

Many thanks for asking. See what Tim Servo thinks first, since Magic Smoke is the official publisher of that collection.

And thanks for the kind words. I loved doing that noise book and am glad someone else gets something out of it.

No Worries! I am currently trying my prototype layout and will almost certainly tweak it a bit more...

Hi Thomas -- again probably more of academic interest than anything else but i got the Noise Source all going and since i have access to some nice gear at work I collected some results for my notebook. Thought that you might also be interested. It is on my blog at:
