Subject description: G2 crashing during performance download from Mac
Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

Been a while since I've been on the forum.
I've just been trying to reorganise my G2 patches and performances. It's fine uploading from G2 --> Mac, but from Mac --> G2, it seems to handle the first couple of performances and then the G2 freezes. My Mac then says that it has lost the USB connection.
I've noticed recently that the G2 Editor 1.62 for Mac quite often reports a "major error" i.e. it loses contact with the keyboard. Perhaps it's all part of the same problem. Doesn't seem to be a USB lead issue - I've switched ports and leads and it does the same thing. Anyone any ideas? Very annoying not being able to communicate between computer and G2 - sort of undermines the whole point of having one!
Cheers
Angus

Yes, there have been reports of problems saving into the G2 memory with version 1.6x, the bug and workarounds discussed here:

Cheers Varice.
I looked at that thread but I'm not sure it addresses this issue. Perhaps I should uninstall and reinstall the editor? (I'm on a Mac so I don't need the USB driver). Have you seen any specific work arounds for uploading patches to the G2? It's the G2 itself that freezes which is slighly worrying!

I'm having more & more corrupt patches since i updated to the new OS on mac-intel 10.4.11.
When saving in the G2's internal memory, it freezes, and i have to switch it off to get it to work again...the patches saved are all corrupted.
I save them on my computer also via the editor, and those patches are ok.
Anyone having the same problem ?

EVERYONE Wink

JUST GO BACK TO SYNTH OS 1.40 ... AND USE THE 1.6 INTEL EDITOR, EVERYTHING SHOULD BE FINE THEN.

The 1.40 OS can be found here:

Ah, thanks Varice. Didn't spot that. I'll try that right now. Thanks for helping out - much appreciated.
