Calendar Event: March 20, 2010 - March 21, 2010

It's that time once again...

Spring Equinox 2010
Online Streaming Concert
Saturday, March 20th

Connect to the stream to listen on radio.electro-music , and join in the electro chat room!

Sign-Up in this thread if you are interested in performing in this years event!

Please copy/paste this Sign-Up template in the thread:

1.Preferred Start Time (Please use GMT/Military Time):
2.Name (stage name):
3.Location: (City/State/Country-if you want)
4.Username:
5.Description: (Style,Genre,Tech,Whatever)
6.Website Address:
7.Set Length: (30min or One hour)

First Time Streamers Please Read:

Please review the Electro Music Copyright Policy

Please note: "Preferred Start Time". We will do the best that we can to accommodate people to their requested times. However, please be flexible because this event will have European and American musicians in many different time zones. Time slots will be on a semi-"first come-first served" basis. Furthermore, please post your time in GMT. The handy clock should make it simple. However, we do use military/24 hour time. It will undoubtedly be an international event and GMT is the only way to coordinate such events.

As in the past, the CHATROOM will serve as an invaluable communication tool for set up, streaming, and connecting to those listening....and it's just a lot of fun! I suggest participants get familiar with it in advance, if you aren't already.

If you want a recording of your set, it would be prudent to record your own set, rather than depend on others. Accidents and mistakes happen...especially in this format. There are many ways to record your set. Edcast has a built in recording system. You can also record your stream from your mixer on the signal path to the computer.

Performers MUST stream at 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz , stereo .

It is IMPERATIVE that everyone test their connections before we start streaming. At least 24 hours before or sooner. Sorry, but musicians WILL NOT be allowed to stream on Saturday if you do not test 24 hours before hand. Not only does it delay the schedule, but causes unneeded stress on performer, server operator, and audience during performance time. Wink

TO DO THE STREAMING:, all you need is a PC with Oddcast (now called Edcast), a free program. If you have a MAC, you can use the Nicecast program (free demo works for a month the last time we tried it) to stream. If you are are interested in participating, we'll set up a test server just for you to experiment on to make sure you can get it to work.

PC users can download Edcast here. The stand-alone version is recommended. http://www.oddsock.org/tools/edcast/

Oddcast (Edcast) instructions posted: http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-13780.html

Mac OSX users are encouraged to use NiceCast which we have tested.

Sign me up! This would be a first for me on EM!

7.Set Length: (30min or One hour): 30 minutes.

I'm very flexible on the time, but please don't make it later than 2300 GMT. Earlier is better if it needs to be moved. I have trouble with energy levels later in the day. Thanks.

Of course, please report in the chat at some time and there will be probably be someone to talk you through the setup. I will have to make a server entry for you as well and PM you some details about that, but that can be done pretty quickly.

welcome on the radio!

Nice to see another morning person Smile Looking forward to your set! The stream ops are usually very careful to check that everyone has a great connection, so you're in good hands.

I still have to see if I will be able to participate, but I thought it would be a good idea to mention that for a Mac you have to buy Nicecast.
If you use it as a trial version, it will output noise too which will ruin your stream.
Unfortunately it seems that there is no freeware for Mac... Sad

Thanks a lot for that info

I had some troubles on the NYE Concert and I had to use my mother's laptop to be able to stream with quality.

I have to instal that one on my Mac and I have to see if I can manage to perform something...

Until when can we register for a performance?

Hey Paulo
Sign up will likely end sometime in the first week of march so that we can put the schedule/poster together and have a couple weeks to promote the event. Just check with me if you are not ready by that time and we can work something out. Smile

What a spaztastic move there Shane! But I only joke of course.

I had a freeware setup as Jan mentions on my Mac about a year ago, it worked just fine. I use Nicecast now though.
