Interesting. So you divide a waveform buffer into sections and you can play them in various orders and volumes? The video seems to imply that.

yes, basically you load a sample in the buffer, the lenght of the whole buffer is divided in 8 parts and assigned to the slice arranger

there is more than just volume controls, i made an offset control for each slice so is possible to customize the starting pont of every slice
(this is a good feature when you load a file that is not a perfect loop originally or to select parts from a song etc)

there's pitch & reverse controls
gate control
volume controls
retrig controls working proportionally to the file lenght to have the same behaviour no matter what file is loaded

all this are synced and can be saved via preset and the preset are changed via a preset sequencer so nothing is random and it's possible to build complex tracks writing preset per preset

soon i'm going to demo the recording part of the patch Smile

Hi Seraph Smile

obviously it's not the very first patch, before this i made 3 or 4 little patches to understand some basics like the use of waveform~ buffer~ etc
Anyway i did the slicer in my first 6 days of Max/Msp
i used to work with reaktor from NI before but i was not very creative

I tried Max and it was love at first sight!

Anyway i'm still newbie to Max , using samples is quite simple..
The tricky part of the patch are the little details like 2 kind of gate (one straight and the other smooth) - the loop end controlled proportionally according to the buffer length in ms and the idea of a preset sequencer to write a non random track

will you share the patch? Shit would be helpful learning-wise, no plans to perform with it, claim it as my own, etc.! Even if you could private message it to me, that would be awesome. Thanks either way, very inspirational, especially considering your making working patches in maxmsp so fast

This totally reminds me of Vectory in the Reaktor preset library, I use that all the time. This seems to have more rearragement options and less signal processing/downsampling, etc.
