Yes, the first units went as expected to sound designers and beta testers, and the second batch to reps. Should be under 100 for all of those, combined.

Justin Maxwell had unit #001 but sold it a while back.

A few of those early units were partially assembled and QC'd by yours truly. Look for an MP on the QC sticker underneath.

Hello all just wanted to say hi as i have installed a A6 in my home set up. All seems to be in perfect condition.

The Serial number is (21) A60######, on of the early ones i believe. Anyway very happy to get my hands on one and hopefully be delving into it a bit deeper over the next few weeks.

Hi sunny, not sure if its the first batch or a reconditioned one from the very early batches but on the bottom there is a sticker that say's "ALESIS Quality control - Signed" the what seems to be a signature of the letter "D" followed by "Mft, Date 02/09/01" so i guess Mft is manufacture date or maybe its been serviced by alesis on that date.

revised again but I changed the order of a few of the 03 models so the list is better organized by production date instead of the 3 digit "serial number".Ive only changed the order in which each individual andromeda is listed in line. I didnt alter the way sunny pedaal has broken down the sequence, just to be clear.

sunny pedaal, I have also revised the sequence of first year models and the beta unit. Have a look and compare to the way you broke down the sequence and let me know which you prefer. I think it makes a little more sense now and no numbers are left out.

cheers

thanks, looks great.
only thing would be that you prefer the date of release above the serial of the batch. i wondered if some machines took longer to be " completed" then others and therefor in time serials look a bit scrambled up.
anyway some info from the alesissite to clear things like this up would be nice. after all the a6 seems to be on a small road to classicstatus
as a6 is discontinued, ? is it save to presumme less then about 2000 were made ?

No idea about the numbers, but I personally think that the A6 is "unofficially" discontinued.

I just want to know if mine was made in china or America and I can see on the back of my unit it sais made in TAIWAN.

But not China?

Were there units made in Taiwan and China?

Mine was purchased used in 2003. I am sure it was at least 1 or 2 years older than that so production would have been anytime between 2001 and 2003.

I can't find my Serial number anywhere on the back? I'll keep looking for it and post it as soon as I can find it. Can the serial Number be displayed somewhere in the software?

I can assume mine was not of the original batch made in the US then correct?

Which batch had problems? The ones made in Taiwan or China?

As I told you on gearslutz if your sticker with the serial number is gone then you can also find it on the back of the first page of your manual.

I am pretty sure they were never made in china just Taiwan.Just as was told to you on gearslutz.

Since your unit says made in taiwan it was made in taiwan. What is the confusion?

Same as I told you on gearslutz, all the batches have a some units with issues. There was not just one batch from Taiwan there were many over the years,so it will be very hard to narrow down which batch from taiwan has those specific issues. It is true that they use to have some serious voice issues for awhile. But all the batches seem to have a few units with problems.

If your unit says made in Taiwan then it is not one of the ones made in the US.

All these questions were answered for you on gearslutz. If your unit does not have issues then why does it matter witch batch had voice issues? Even the newest batch has some faulty units.

I am pretty sure the faulty ASIC chips were in units that came out around 2004. But again, every batch has faulty units. If yours is fine, what does it matter.

I was just to hyper about the subject sorry about all that. I am the type that would like to keep all my stuff for 20-30 years.

I decided to by some boards from Alesis. The most important ones like the ASIC, Main, Left Panel which has the EEprom and Micro and Power supply. The rest of the panel board are the switches and knobs which can be controlled Via Midi.

I'll get all these boards for around $1500 which is way cheaper than buying another unit over $3000!!

This is what I did for my Oasys 88. I bought a bunch of boards and power supply as backups. The motherboard and processors I got real cheap from ebay so bought a few of them. Found the LCD and touch panel even cheaper.

Thanks

Ah I see your reasoning. Sorry if I came off a little bitchy.I just read my post and it sounds kinda assholeish.

Pretty good idea buying extra parts, especially now that the andromeda may be discontinued there no telling how long spare parts will be available.I have been wanting to pick up some vco and vcf chips to fix a problem and to have just in case.

One suggestion though. When it comes to the entire ASIC board, there are cases where even the replacement boards have bad chips on them. sunny pedaal, the user on this forum,as well as some other members have had lots of issues with the replacement ASIC boards. So I suggest buying just the individual vcf and vco chips as well.
That way if your replacement board has some bad voices you can replace the problem chip or chips instead of the entire board.

Also have you checked out this site?
http://www.instrumentalparts.com/ala6ansppa.html
They charge a bit more than alesis and they do not sell individual voice chips but I figured you may want to check them out.

So how much did your replacement ASIC board cost? Also if you order some replacement chips can you post how much they cost as well?
