In a way it the SoundArt Chameleon is the evil twin of the G2/NM-1.
It is basically almost the same thing but the swedes locked down their product with a set way of doing things ( complete with a synth installed ).
Both concepts are of course valid. |
Rather spookily, someone (Oval) started working on a modular Synth for the Chameleon ;-

I'm not sure what became of his project. It used a Java front end on the PC and downloaded via midi. you could then edit the 'modules' on the front panel of the Chameleon, it was superb.
If anyone knows Aleix, ask him if he could contact me, I'd like to get a copy of this onto the Chameleon pages.

FWIW, Soundart had parts to build 750.
When they closed doors, I was offered teh chance to buy the remainder of the stock parts, enough 'cases' to build about another 200, give or take a couple.
Alas I didn't have the money at the time, and I've been unable to contact anyone there since.
Anyway, that brings it out at around 550 units, give or take a couple.

Hi seraph
Lots of interesting forums on the board here. I've been lurking around for a while, but thanks to the Chamy section, I've finally got round to making my first post....and now my 2nd |

I just picked one up for $250 US. I am assuming that is a decent price (especially if more development goes in to new skins). |

I own a Chameleon (in France) too.
DSP is my job but I unfortunately have never had the time to use the Chameleon.
Great to read that there still are developers around, because
I have planned to finally use it by the end of this year... |

oi oi oi
im also happy to be a part of the chameleon family.
i own one since last week.
i must say it sounds amazing.
and i am also up with comparing the chameleon and the nm/g2.
i owned a nm and sold it for 350 a lil ago.
and now im a proud owner of the chameleon.
my intentions are to learn programming my lil beauty and try to make a kinda modular synth and a nice drummachine for it ,one dat wont emulate the 808 or 909 ,since we already got fahrenheit(wich sounds superb.
but its a long long way to go since im a noob to dsp programming.
lol
but in da upcommin weeks ill be starting with the hello world and other xsamples.
if i get it in my fingers and i make a synth ill be sure to upload it here on the forum
so count me in for one.
oi oi oi
