How difficult is it to cross the border from the US with equipt. and CDs and perform at a venue. I've heard it's quite a hassle since the Bush administration.

it is more difficult...

specifically in the form of beaurcacy...it takes a lot longer to get a permit

if you are doing something for free and you just bring 'promo' material, you might be able to squeeze in with no permit...but dubious

Too bad. We had a date for the Ping, but decided to cancell due to the hassles, we have heard about. The date was close to the E-M convention, so we decided to invest our time and money in Philly instead. It's a long way from Tenn. to Toronto. We didn't want to drive there and somehow get turned away.

We didn't have any trouble crossing - that was in the summer of 2003.
Have things changed since then?
One thing to be aware of, and this applies to musicians coming into the US also, you can't be coming to play a "gig" or job, it is much easier if you are just coming to jam with some friends. I don't know what kind of permits you will need if you say you will be working.

I thgink the problem is the OTHER way
It's EASY to cross into canada

It's IMPOSSIBLE to cross into the USA without hiding what you are doing and lying through your teeth.

We have, as part of a trade agreement between the USA and Canada, the right to perform gigs back and forth across the border, but you need a permit...

regardless, i've never known anyone to be hassled, unless you have drugs.

we pretend to police drugs for some reason..
