Swinging it |
 |
|
Hello, I just found these forums and I'm glad that I did.
I've been messing around with the Nord G1 for a few years now, but it is not my main instrument so I'm no prodigy. I've made all sorts of interesting patches on it, many of them sound quite unique and bizarre as far as synth sounds go. Its so easy to make bizarre sounds on the Nord, which is why I love this thing so much.
Anyway, I've been trying to figure out how to do something that should be possible but which eludes me. I've come close in several different ways, but nothing satisfactory thus far. I wish to be able to add swing to my sequences, with a knob that controls the amount. I would like to hear others' ideas, as I am not very proficient with many aspects of modular sequencing, and the nord in particular. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I would love to hear ideas on how I could controllably add and change accents on drums, controlled by a sequencer. I've messed with this, too, and come pretty close, but I'm not satisfied with my approach and I know there are better ways. I would like to have two-to-three levels of accent that I can control, for instance, a bass drum or snare sound with.
I hope I'm not retreading old ground here; I tried searching for information first but didn't find anything too useful.
Regards,
GS |

Oh, hmm. Never would think to look to the presets for guidance for some reason. I've had a spotty education with this Nord. I love it, but it is hard to focus on a systematic approach of learning all the ins and outs of how it works because it is so easy to get distracted with things for hours at a time and forget what you were originally trying to do. I never took it and looked through all the presets and tried to figure out how they worked, but that isn't a bad idea... Just time consuming.
That's the long way of saying thanks, I'll check it out.
Regards,

here a few swingy things i used in my e-book soundlab. in this interactive e-book there are a lot more examples how to create swing etc. i work with the G2 there, so you have to translate them. but recreating them will give you more insight.
