Now I know why there were batches that we thought were bad ASICs when in fact is was most likely this issue as stated in the service manual. My Left Resister is R73 and right is R74. R73 measures 0 and R74 measures 10K ohm so I guess mine are reversed and I do notice intermittently voice # 2 is sometimes slightly beating.

So I wonder if Alesis will cover an out of warranty advisory? They should!!

Oh and one more thing Alesus carries all the PCB Assembly boards for the Andromeda A6 except for the board that sits right under the ASIC board? SO I wonder if the replacement includes the analog board underneath it?

Part # 9-79-0205
ASSY PCB ANALOG MASTER A6

Advisory From the SM Below:

3.503 Voice 2 Fails Tuning or ASIC Test – Has Problem with Pre Filter Path
This is a very specific problem on the Analog ASIC PCB. R73 and R74 are swapped in the silkscreen, so the wrong parts are stuffed on the board. We found this problem on both the A6 sample and the separate Analog ASIC board sent by Yahorng.
Take a look at an Analog ASIC board, near R74 and R73. The "R74" silkscreen is on the left resistor, while the "R73" silkscreen is on the right resistor. But, actually, the left resistor is R73 and the right is R74.
So, the left resistor should be a 20K resistor. The right one should be a 0 ohm resistor. Look around the other ASICs to see what it should look like.

Andromeda or CS-80? Is it ever possible to get some of these patches on the Andromeda?

bit of a confusing post
? do you actually have a andromeda, also regarding your other posts on numerous other electrocom site ? ( and our experiences with an annoying person, with about the same name and style "offering sitar-patches", some time ago on this side . if i'm too cautious then please accept my apology beforehand !)

but oke, to come back to the voice 2: i think this problem was solved by numark themself and
most problems descibed are due to chips not working within an exceptable range, so affecting any voice , not neccesarry voice 2. those problems can only be solved by swirtching the chips.
the problem in the service manual was known too, but only descibed in one occasion on this forum so far as i remember.

Well that sitar patch person is not me. I would never ask for Lame Sitar patches.

I own the A6 purchased in 2003. I opened the unit and saw that the resistors are oriented as the advisory describes yet the Voice 1/2 do complete the auto tune sucessfully.

Maybe its on certain patches I notice a small bit of beating between the oscillators on only one voice, and maybe not at all related to voice 2.

The Advisory is confusing and wondering if this is not an advisory for a Service Tech but rather the engineers at Alesis?

Question if the ASIC's all seem to be ok will they remain that way or have you seen them go bad after so many years of use like the way the old CEM (Curtis Chips) have.

Mine is 8 years old played very little and seems to be working fine. Can I say it will be 20 years from now?
