electro-music Collaboration Album II Subject description: Let's do it again! |
|
|
We put together a really good album the first time around and to date it's received over 900 downloads, so good success there. The album is representative of our community in that it has several collaborations, individual artist contributions, and various styles of music represented. We hope that our efforts brought new members into our community and possibly even some donations to the site.
Since this first album was so successful I'm volunteering to put together another album of the same style. If you would like to contribute to the album, please post to this thread with your best effort.
Some technical details: please post only 320 kbps mp3 or wav files because the netlabels insist on only the highest audio quality. Include a text description of your work so I can compile that into the album description. Also you may post photos (jpg's please) for consideration in the album artwork.
Let's all get together and make another really cool album!

Wow, we already have three songs! And they rock too. The first is an insanely intense piece by Telstar about the highs of mania and the letdown of abuse. The second is a powerful stormy work by Dan Minoza with vocals by myself, and the third is Charlie Brown by Glamrock and myself.
This album is gonna rock!

Hey Les
What's the procedure? How is it decided what gets included?
I have a track in progress that might be fun. If I do a rough arrangement of it, would that be enough for you (or whoever) to decide if it might qualify?
I'm going to have a look for compilation one now.

Les, can you post a link to the first album?
Feel free to pick out any of my songs from my Summer Solstice set for the second album, if you'd like. |

I'm intrigued. What prior CD are you referring to? I can see the electro-music 2005 sampler and the electro-music 2006 sampler. Or do you mean another one?

Thank you Carlo!
The procedure for the album is easy. Just make your song be CD quality of either WAV or 320kbps MP3 and pm it to me. Or you could post it to this thread if you feel so inclined.
So far I have seen no reason to reject material. Three of the songs from the first album didn't seem to fit with the others and were not my personal favorites but i'm not here to judge. I just put the misfit songs at the end and let them sparkle in their glory of unusualness to close out the album, lol.
The idea is to represent our community with various styles of music, so do what you like - i tell people to send me a "favorite" song, that works too. Just no profanity or harsh subject matter please, thanks.
Oh, one more thing, you must give me permission to use your work on the album by expressly stating so in your message or post.

Well yours was a totally separate style, glitch, from the bulk of the music...

mine is the third song (out of 11) just in case anyone wonders
...and for the second CD you can choose one of the 5 Solstice Songs.
I leave it up to you which one fits (I don't want to end up at the end, if you know what I mean ) _________________ homepage - blog - forum - youtube

Les - I think that track sits well at the close of the cd.
I liked "sparkle in their glory of unusualness"
Carlo - LOL I think your tunes will sound good no matter the track #. _________________ *****************

Dan Minoza sent me some powerful music and I composed appropriate lyrics for the piece, spoke through a delay thingie in ChucK, and then sent it back to Dan. Dan then added guitar and wind sounds to create this song. Play it loud... Hope you like it.

You guys are not being fair. I tried my best to organize the album thematically. The album order is largely the order the songs were received but rearranged to create a good flow. First is social commentary, then some more emotional stuff, strong issues next and two songs of crisis and recovery later to close out the main flow of the album. Then I had three songs that just didn't fit in and I wanted to include everyone so i did. What do you want me to do, throw glitch in between joy and sadness? That would not be an appropriate transition IMHO. Maybe I should had reserved some songs for later albums, but I wanted to represent the diversity of our community by including everyone's idea of music. The notion that the best song is first and the worst last is rude at best, thank you...

I'd like to include my "The Wrong People". It's one of my personal favourites. You have my permission to use it on this album. I've already released this song under a CC AT-NC-ND license anyway.
You can get a 320 kbps version from http://audio.audiodef.com . |

Thanks Carlo! And it's free too! I'm very excited!
I'll try to record a quick arrangement of the track I have in mind this weekend (World Cup allowing - commiserations Carlo) and fling it up here. _________________ This message was brought to you from Beyond The Grave. |

Gonna have to get some tracks down.... _________________ Dave

Most people have contributed songs ranging from two to five minutes. I have not imposed any song length restrictions, but I would think that 15 minutes might be a good upper limit, flexible of course. You can submit more than one track too DES.
