Jam Session PA and Recordings Subject description: Availability for EM2010 |

Will a PA be provided for the jam sessions or do we provide our own?
Will anyone be recording or do we provide our own recording gear?
Are the collaborative jam sessions all booked?

There should be a PA in the jam room. However, we rely on volunteers for all of the equipment, so I can't say for sure what it will be yet. There are no official plans to record the jams, but anyone is welcome to do so.
The schedule is not decided yet, that includes the collabs. If you want to lead or participate in a collaboration, please let me know. Howard and I will sort it all out at the end of June (when participant's confirmations are due).
Note that jams are open to anyone, but you can schedule one with a theme if you want. Mostly they will be in the evenings, but there are some spaces available for impromptu sessions as well.
The collaborations are not exactly jams - they may be prepared or rehearsed, and the lineup for each will be set in advance. They are scheduled like regular performances. _________________ www.gregwaltzer.com |

I can bring the pair of KC550s and the KC1 subwoofer for the jam room again this year if that's a fit. I *still* don't have a working mixer, unfortunately _________________ When the stream is deep

Wow, I didn't know that was yours before.
Thanks so much, Dale.
How many inputs do you have on these?
We might be able to share or daisy-chain our mixers.
We really appreciate your lugging all that gear to the event for everyone's use.
I'll be sure to take good care of it. No kicking amps or smashing guitars in my jams! When Julie Mosc smashed her laptop last year, I cringed,...and she wasn't even jamming. |

Greg, do we have more than one space for jamming or do people have to wait
to join in or start a new theme? |

There is one room for jams (workshops are also in that room Saturday and Sunday afternoons). There are also some lounge-type rooms in other buildings that people can use for rehearsals or other activities. For those rooms you will need to bring your own PA or headphone setup. _________________ www.gregwaltzer.com |

Hi! are you saying there will be a shortage of equipment? I have a little Mackie Microseries 1202 mixer if you think you'll need it...!
OK, I'm assuming the jams will be kind of like last year...you walk in with a music thingy and a cable, and if there's room on the mixing board you can join in?
Or would you have to reserve space, sign up before hand, etc.? _________________ The most important gear is the brain behind the instrument. |

Mostly like last year.
The themed jams on the schedule are set for those themes, but they are mostly open to all comers.
Occasionally there are invitation only jams, although I don't remember any in recent years. I'd expect that that would be stated on the schedule. _________________ When the stream is deep

There's a MIDI clock Jam planned, so bring your groovebox, drum machine, clockable arpeggiators etc..
I'd like to bring my EDP (MIDI synchronized looper/delay) and synchronised Vortex delay to permanently hook up to the mixer.
Those use 1 mono and 1 stereo input. Two effect sends each channel would be nice.
Laura, I think that Mackie Microseries 1202 mixer would be nice to have around in case someone needs it. |

So, how's that MIDI clock thing work... is there one giant MIDI 'master' with 20 MIDI OUTs?
Yeah I'll put the Mackie on my 'to bring' list. How's the best way to transport something that has a lot of knobs? cover it with a pillow & wrap it in a blanket?

There'll be MIDI master clock. Not 20 outs, but enough I expect.
By the way, my looper/ delay has tap tempo and MIDI clock out, so someone could even start an acoustic jam, and MIDI clocked stuff can then join in with that.
Transport? Erm... Bubblewrap? Or the box it came in if you have kept it. |

I am bringing a 24 channel, 4 bus mixer for use in the jam room so no need to bring any mixers. I just did a check on all the channels and all seems good to go.
This should be more then enough channels for a mega jam ...
See you at the festival gang !!
