I saw some threads about serial numbers and knew that A6s made in 2007
are likely faulty. Please let me know the method.. I'm about to get it and so nervous.. help me.. |

Its been reported that some of the A6's made in 2007 had bad OSC chips but that doesn't mean that all the 2007 A6's are faulty it just means that the users who got some of the bad batch will have sent them back and the way in which the will have been repaired will have simply been to remove the bad OSC chips and replace them with new ones. (there are plenty of A6 2007 user who have no problems) Its very unlikely that a A6 user will have not sent the unit right back as these reports about bad OSC are happening straight out of the box.
When buying a second hand one simply check to that all the Voices tune correctly. This can be achieved by pressing the AUTO TUNE button twice which is situated underneath the TUNE knob on the left of the A6. The unit will go through a tuning procedure which will take a few minutes and all the voices 1-16 should have the letter T for tuned appear underneath them, F will appear if its faulty. |

the voiceproblem is not restricted to the year2007, so just test the unit before buying.
all remarks on "bad batches, bad years, colordifferences" and quality , are nonsense. when enough people repeat them they get a feeling of truth, no more.

| I thought the the A6's with tuning difficulties was due to an error while silkscreening so 2 resistors where put in the wrong places ? or is this wrong |

there are many reasons why an a6 isn't tuned properly.
probably , in the past , on a few occasions, the resistor problem was one of them. i don't know if that problem was connected to 2007batch, would guess it's an older problem for a short period. so skipping years and or colors for nonlogical reasons don't seems like such a good idea to me.
more often other voices then nr 2 are affected, so just test before buy. |
