Interfacing old Midi instruments with Windows7

I am getting back into making music and have decided to buy a MIDI to USB cable, but I am having trouble interfacing my instrument with Windows 7. Currently I own a Yamaha PSR530 keyboard and am also planning to buy a classic DX7.

I plan to put studio software on my PC so I can use it as a multi-track sequencer and also use the PSR530 to play sounds on the computer (like a MIDI keyboard input), and also have the computer record the sounds I play on the DX7.

Are there any drivers that I can download that will allow my PSR530 to interface with Windows7? Or what is the best studio software to use that will work well with the older Yamaha keyboards/synths.

Or would my best alternative be to get a MIDI Synth?

UPDATE: I have managed to get my PSR530 to interface with the Reason demo now, turns out that I needed to put the MIDI OUT cable into the MIDI IN port on my keyboard.

Glad you got it working. I don't have Windows 7, but I have some experience with routing midi through Windows XP (usb devices, software, midi gear). As for getting more usb gear, if you like faders and/or knobs, that would be a reason for getting other usb midi devices.
