I am trying to create a sequencer which can be programmed from as few dials as possible and without the need for the the full G2 interface (as I have an Engine).

I came up with this, there are 3 dials used to program it, one selects the step, one sets the note on or off and the final one sets the pitch (i have coloured them red for reference). As it uses sample and holds (to store step values) these are engaged by pressing any key on the keyboard (on the channel where this seq resides). You'll need to load it into an alternate slot to the one with the synth you wish to play, to make it work properly.

Anybody got any alternative ideas?

[note: patch was reposted, scroll down a bit - Blue Hell]

Apologies for digging up this old post, but I'm really interested in this patch attachment (but it seems to give me a 404 error - maybe it was lost in the "great server crash")?
------

I've been working on using my G2 engine as a multi-layer midi sequencer for an external drum machine recently.

I've had some success at creating a sort of hybrid between the "SeqCtr" module, and the "SeqNote" module, the idea is that I'd be able to directly insert notes into steps 1-16 using just two midi CCs: one CC to select the step, the other CC to alter the value at that step.

I'll post the patch if you're interested, but it's very work-in-progress, so probably not that useful until I iron out the problems. Hoo!

I was curious if anyone on the forums had done something similar and your "loser_seq_1" patch does sound similar, but it looks like the pch file was lost in the "great server crash" :o(

The post is here: http://electro-music.com/forum/post-119424.html#119424
And the patch file link gives me a 404 error: http://electro-music.com/forum/phpbb-files/loser_seq_1_453.pch2

I wonder, it's unlikely - but maybe do you still have the pch file?
I've sent you a PM as well, just incase.

Thanks!

Hiya,

Sory for not getting back to you sooner but I haven't been on my pc much this weekend.

Had a look and couldn't find the patch I'm afraid. Someone else might have it, otherwise I'll have to try and work out what I did and build it again for you some time. I am pretty sure it involved a combination of lots of sample and holds and MUXer or two.. if that helps?

Here's my first attempt at blending the NoteSeq and SeqCtr modules for use on my G2 engine.

Unfortunately it's very inefficient - looks like there's too much DSP/memory used up to get more than sequencer in a single slot. Damn. :o(

----
After wrestling with this for a few days on the G2 this weekend - I "gave up" and knocked a similar thing up in MaxMSP. After spending so long with my head inside the G2 editor I knew pretty well how I'd go about it... Heh.

I'm uploading a youtube video of me playing with the Max version - link below:

I could post the Max patch, but it's outside the scope of this Clavia forum, and anyway it'd be so nice to have a hardware solution on the G2 engine. ;o)

No problem sir. Thanks for looking.

I'd be interested to know what you think of the patch I posted. ;o)

Check the zipped patch archive. I think a copy may be there.

I doubt it ... patch archiving started after the server crash ... not?

Let me see if I can find an old version ... hmm .. it's listed as a restorable file in my after crash docs ... but oddly enough its not in the g2_patches_to_be_restored.zip file ... ah .. got it Smile
