Reaper. Everything it is supposed to do works, the support forums are the best, and you can't touch any of the others for the price. I don't have any experience on the DAWs you mentioned, YMMV.

Here goes my list:
Logic (what I currently use as my main daw)
Cubase (used to use it a lot, somewhat similar to logic)
Reaper (use it rarely...probable the best rec software for the price!)
Pro tools LE (have it, but rarely use it... Protools HD is better and more in line with other rec software like the ones mentioned above, but PT HD costs way too much and it's not really better than Logic in my opinion) |

| thanks for the answers so far all interesting, I am leaning towards ableton Live at the moment on pc then on mac next, great fast user friendly interface and love the format of instructions within the panels on the right side of screen... |

Garage Band
It's free and it's enough to just record audio tracks.
Will likely start using Ableton Live if I buy a Korg Zero 8, since it includes a version of it. _________________ Akai EWI3020/3030m / Alesis Fusion / Cheetah MS6 / Clavia Nord Modular G1/G2X / Creamware Noah, Scope / EMU E6400U, P2000, XL7 / Ensoniq Fizmo / Hartmann Neuron / Ibanez AD202, DM2000 / Kawai SX-240 / Korg 05R/W, A1, DSS1, EMX1, Legacy Collection, Oasys PCI, P6, P800II, SDD3000, Trident, Triton Pro, Zero 8 / Novation SBS, AS / Pearl DRUM-X / Roland D550, MKS80, R880, SRE555, VariOS, V-Synth / Soundart Chameleon / Symetrix 606 / Teisco S110F / Waldorf Blofeld kbd, mQ / Yamaha A5000, AN1x, CS5/15, FS1r |

Right now...
Saw Studio for recording. Yea, it's expensive - but it sounds good (at least to me). The midi workshop add-on though is not very usable for me which is why # 2 is.....
Reaper - for the money I think it's hard to beat what this can app can do with regards to recording and midi. I'll do midi work here and then transfer tracks to Saw Studio.
That's pretty much it for now. I used to use Sonar but stopped doing the upgrades after 4. Years ago I tried using Logic for PC - loved the program but it was very unstable. Then it went only Apple (which was probably a good thing) when they bought the company. _________________ Dave
