Just completed the Soundlab Plus (photos of build) |

Hi all,
I just finished building the Soundlab Plus. This is my second Soundlab, but this time I decided to have a custom panel made by Front Panel Express. I'm really happy with the panel they cut for me as it looks good and it makes the synth feel really solid.
Here is the panel with pots and switches:
the rear:
my wiring diagram:
panel wiring (I used lots of heat shrink tubing on the flying resistors and diodes):
wiring up the pcb:
placing it in the case:
A detail shot showing the nice work FPE did on the panel. Notice I did not do any color in-filing. This saved me a lot of money and I think the silver looks good with black. The panel cost me $140 shipped.
And I even built a little amp for it (it's a recycled computer speaker)!

Well done. The synth looks superb. I love the panel, you have reworked the layout to make it look more professional. Does it sound as good as you hoped? Go on show off, did it work first time?
Did you think of taming the wiring? If I may suggest some tie wraps!?!? |

Thanks. I'm really happy with the sound, especially the noise circuit which sounds much better than on my original Soundlab.
I left the wires loose just in case I had to do any trouble shooting. Fortunately I made only 2 mistakes. First I hooked one of the LFO wires to the incorrect point on the PCB. Second I made the mistake of reversing the two leds so that the power indicator flashed with the LFO and the LFO indicator led was just always on. Both of those mistakes were easy to fix.
Yesterday I completed the Electronic Drum Trigger that Ray has on his website. I put it in a small recycled wooden box (it was a sake cup box I had bought in Japan). There are 2 outputs, one a CV and one is a trigger for the AR Envelope. Here are some pictures of it:
