Setup questions |
|
|
I am getting ready for my Very First Performance! I timed my setup time... approx 2 minutes. Then I looked at the schedule and was relieved to find that there seems to be 1/2 hour between acts. Is that correct? Hope so.
Technical issues: does the 'house' have long enough cables to reach whatever mixing board you're using? Do you have powerstrips or should I bring my own? What else should I bring?
My current setup is very low-rent. It's on my bedroom desk.

If you read the "guidelines for performers" email that was sent to all particpants, all of these questions were answered there.
Yes, there is at least 1/2 hour between sets. That time includes take down for the previous set, and also sound check. So we ask that you pre-stage your rig as much as possible earlier than that.
You should bring your own cables to connect to the mixer (or snake, if you're in the theater). 20 ft is recommended, but we can probably deal with shorter lengths.
You should bring sufficient power strips to plug in all of your gear. _________________ www.gregwaltzer.com |

Thanks for your help, Greg!
20' cables are so expensive...! I have lots of short cables & a stereo cable (single to double) that is about 5' long. What's the best way to convert it to 20'? Buy a few couplers and plug my shorter cables into the couplings? Would I lose a lot of sound quality that way? _________________ The most important gear is the brain behind the instrument. |

Laura -- find me Saturday morning likely somewhere near the drum circle and I'll lend you a pair of cables.
EDIT: What's your output look like, 1/4", XLR or other. 1/4" and XLR I got. _________________ When the stream is deep

Hey Acoustic!
I use 3 audio outs (one Mono instrument, one stereo). I found one 20' cable around the house. That leaves 2 for the stereo.
THANKs so much for your offer. I might stop at Sam Ash tomorrow & see what a pair of 20's would cost me. But I'll keep your offer in mind.
Are you the Banjo guy?
