a6 vs ableton |
|
|
hey guys ,
im using ableton 8 atm and i have the a6 pluged into my laptop through one of those alesis MIDI to USB cables .. so far so good , i can type in the midi comands and everything works fine ..
EXCEPT ..
for some reason ( maybe because im a noob ) , i cant get any sound off the a6 whenever i put a compressor , or an eq , or anything really on the midi track the a6 is sitting on ..
very annoying , i can record everything in audio and do it then , but its VERY annoying since it doesnt allow me to do any real live editing on what im doing ..
has anyone else experienced this problem with the a6 or any other synths ? any way around it ?
thanks heaps ,
god bless |

Hello!
At first when I read your post "I can´t get any sound off the A6 whenever I put a compressor ... on the midi track the A6 is sitting on" I was afraid you didn´t know the difference between midi and audio. But, as far as I understand, when you try to record audio, it works for you. So what you´re after is to record midi and audio at the same time and be able to go back and edit midi if needed and then re-record the audio.
For this, have you tried inserting an "External instrument" to the track and get both audio and midi recorded at the same time? External instrument is one of the included Live "instruments" that you find in the Live Device Browser to the left.
That´s a way to do it. Unfortunately, "External instrument" may give you some timing issues with the A6. For example, when I record arps with the A6 as an External instrument in Live, the arps get screwed up.
Because of this, I used to record both midi and audio at the same time, using a midi track and an audio track separately. Since I´ve lately, for some reason I don´t know, have had some problems getting the A6 to just play the midi I´ve recorded, I´ve skipped that and now I just record audio from the A6. When needed I change the audio directly with Melodyne editor.
Sorry couldn´t help you more. Let me know how you sort it out. _________________ All A6 programming pros, don´t hesitate to put together your best patches and make them available on the Internet!
